General dentistry
Dr Key takes pride in his work, and strives to provide quality dentistry at affordable prices. He has built many strong relationships with his clients over the years. Routine check-ups include scaling and polishing, and fluoride treatment. Digital X-rays are taken and examined to ensure that all aspects of teeth are healthy.
Dr Key is a registered dentist who adheres to the guidelines and protocols set by SADA and HPCSA.
When filling teeth, Dr Key only uses tooth-coloured “white” fillings ( Omnichroma , Tokuyama Dental ) . These composite fillings use smart chromatic technology to obtain unprecedented shade matching ability and aesthetics.
A Zeiss dental microscope enhances visuals, resulting in much better outcomes for patients during examinations and procedures. He also uses the latest intra oral digital scanning device ( 3 Shape Trios 5 ) to convert your mouth into a digital format . NO MORE sticky putty moulds ( impressions) are used which often makes one gag and uncomfortable.
Specialist whitening
Teeth whitening is the process of removing stains and discolouration from teeth and improving colour through bleaching. The once-off, in-office Philips Zoom Professional Whitening System has proven itself by consistently achieving great results.

Less expensive, take-home kits supplied by Opalescence are also available. This process takes about a week to do at home.
Implants
When a tooth cannot be saved or teeth are missing, dental implants are advocated. Dental implantology plays an ever-increasing role in modern dentistry. A maxillo-facial oral surgeon may remove teeth and place the implant fixture into the jaw bone. After a period of a few months, which allows adequate healing, Dr Key and his dental technician make a tooth. This is done by taking DIGITAL IMPRESSIONS using the TRIOS 5 intraoral scanner with AI (artificial intelligence ) assisted 3 Shape dental software. The carefully and accurately made tooth is then fitted onto the implant fixture.

Dr Key earned a post-graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology from the University of Pretoria in 2013, and keeps abreast with developments in this popular field.
Root treatments (endodontics)
Root treatment is often a stigmatised procedure. Many people fear the very term. When executed properly and according to a tried and tested protocol, e.g. Dentsply Maillefer WaveOne Gold, there is no need to feel anxious. Using the Zeiss microscope, Dr Key can view root canals clearly and deliver optimum results for each root-treated tooth.

Kids at the dentist
Children require special care when they visit the dentist. Dr Key and his staff try to alleviate these fears. Having children of his own, who have grown up in his chair, Dr Key has become skilled at treating young patients. Check-ups for children include polishing of teeth, fissure sealants (protective coats), fluoride treatment and orthodontic assessment. Dr Key makes extensive use of ART (atraumatic restorative treatment), where no injection or drilling is used. If children are uncooperative or have severe dental problems, in office sedation services are offered . This is provided with the help of the experienced and well respected dental sedationist, Dr Aidan Parkin.
